SnoreBuds vs Nasal Strips and Nasal DilatorsUpdated 2 months ago
Nasal strips and basic dilators help open the nose. SnoreBuds opens the nose and stabilizes the airway using adjustable EPAP.
How Nasal Strips Work
External nasal strips (like Breathe Right) pull the nostrils outward to reduce nasal resistance.
They can:
• Improve nasal airflow
• Reduce mild congestion
• Help light snoring
They do not affect the throat or airway stability.
How Basic Nasal Dilators Work
Internal nasal dilators sit inside the nostrils to:
• Physically widen the nasal passages
• Improve airflow
• Make nasal breathing easier
Like strips, they improve airflow — but they do not actively stabilize the airway.
Why That Matters
Snoring is usually caused by vibration in the throat due to airway narrowing.
Improving airflow through the nose is helpful — but often not enough.
How SnoreBuds Is Different
SnoreBuds combines two functions:
Nasal dilation — opening the nostrils
Adjustable EPAP — adding resistance during exhalation
EPAP creates a longer, slower exhale that helps keep the airway open and reduces tissue vibration.
This is the key difference.
Adjustability Matters
Most nasal dilators and strips are fixed.
SnoreBuds includes four adjustable Snore Strength levels, allowing you to:
• Start low
• Increase gradually
• Personalize effectiveness
This makes it more adaptable than traditional nasal aids.
When Might Strips or Basic Dilators Be Enough?
If your snoring is on occasional and very mild and primarily due to nasal congestion, a strip or basic dilator may help.
If snoring is habitual, adding EPAP is the necessary next step.
SnoreBuds was designed specifically for this purpose.
